- The Tripura government also announced a 3% Dearness Allowance (DA) hike for state employees, effective April 2025, raising their DA to 33%.
- The Budget Estimates (BE) for FY 25 stood at ₹27,804.67 crore, later revised to ₹30,296.50 crore in the FY 25 Revised Estimates. The budget deficit stands at ₹429.56 crore.
- The budget introduces 13 new welfare schemes aimed at supporting job seekers and mentally challenged individuals. The highest allocation of ₹6,450 crore has been made to the finance department.
Main Point :-
(i) Major infrastructure projects include: Establishment of new police stations in West Agartala, East Agartala, Belonia, Baikhora, Bagbassa, and Madhupur in Tripur.
(ii) A 'Bharat Mata Canteen cum Night Shelter' in Agartala, Tripura, with an initial budget of ₹2 crore, to provide convenience for visitors.

Union Minister JP Nadda Unveils Two New Schemes for Girl Child Welfare in Tripura.
On March 9, 2025, Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda, the Minister of Health and Family Welfare (MoH&FW), introduced two new welfare schemes for girl children in Tripura. The announcement was made during the two-year celebration of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Tripura Government 2.0 at Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala, Tripura.
- The two schemes, Mukhyamantri Balika Samridhi Yojana and Mukhyamantri Kanya Atmanirbhar Yojana, aim to provide financial assistance and promote academic excellence among girls in Tripura.
- This scheme is designed to provide financial security and support for higher education or other essential needs.Under this initiative, the Tripura government will deposit a one-time bond of Rs 50,000 in the name of every girl child born in a Below Poverty Line (BPL) family.
- Upon turning 18, the girl will receive the matured bond, which is expected to grow to Rs 8-10 lakh.
Main Point :-
(i) The scheme provides scooters to meritorious girl students to encourage self-reliance and ease of mobility for higher education and career growth.
(ii) Previously, scooters were awarded to the top 100 girls in the Higher Secondary examinations.
(iii) The scheme has now been expanded to include 140 meritorious girl students from all educational boards in Tripura.

Tripura Becomes the First Northeastern State to Sign MoU with Bhashini for Multi-Lingual Governance.
In January 2025, the Government of Tripura signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Digital India Bhashini Division (DIBD) of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) for multi-lingual governance.
- The MoU was signed during a state-level workshop titled "Bhashini Rajyam," held at Pragna Bhavan in Agartala, Tripura, under the guidance of Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha, Chief Minister (CM) of Tripura.
Main Point :-
(i) With this agreement, Tripura becomes the first North-Eastern (NE) state, as well as the 8th Indian state to sign an MoU with the Bhasha Interface for India (Bhashini).
(ii) This MoU is a significant milestone in the state's efforts to promote digital inclusivity and leverage technology for enhanced citizen-centric governance.

Tripura Receives New State Emblem with MHA Approval.
In January 2025, Tripura Chief Minister (CM) Manik Saha announced that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had approved the new state emblem, which will prominently feature the state’s history and culture in its design.
- The proposal for the state emblem of Tripura was examined under Rule 4(2) of the State Emblem of India (Regulation of Use) Rules, 2007 (as amended in 2010) and found to be in order.
Main Point :-
The newly designed emblem features the map of Tripura within a saffron circle, with the national emblem of India displayed inside the outline of the map. Below the circle, "Government of Tripura" is written.
