(ii) In Odisha, Hari Babu Kambhampati took over from Raghubar Das. Arif Mohammed Khan was moved to Bihar, replacing Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. General (Dr.) V.K. Singh (Retired) was appointed as the new Governor of Mizoram, succeeding Hari Babu Kambhampati.
(iii) Additionally, Ajay Kumar Bhalla was appointed as the new Governor of Manipur, taking over from Lakshman Prasad Acharya. All the new appointments will be effective once the respective Governors assume charge of their offices.

IIT Guwahati, IIT Mandi, and CSTEP Bengaluru Release District-Level Climate Risk Assessment Report
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Guwahati, IIT Mandi, and the Centre for Study of Science, Technology, and Policy (CSTEP) Bengaluru released a comprehensive report titled "District-Level Climate Risk Assessment for India: Mapping Flood and Drought Risks Using IPCC Framework" on December 13, 2024. The report, supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), provides a detailed analysis of district-level climate risks in India.
The report identifies 51 districts with very high flood risk and 118 districts with high flood risk, with vulnerable regions including Assam, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Gujarat, Odisha, and Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, 91 districts face very high drought risk, with Bihar, Assam, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Maharashtra being the most affected. Alarmingly, 11 districts, including Patna (Bihar), Alappuzha (Kerala), and Kendrapara (Odisha), are highly vulnerable to both floods and droughts.
The report emphasizes the urgent need for tailored, region-specific adaptation strategies to enhance resilience and mitigate the impacts of climate change. It also highlights the importance of collective efforts and innovative frameworks to address climate challenges.

Indian States Showcase Economic Resilience with Over 7% GSDP Growth Post-Pandemic.
India's states have exhibited strong economic resilience post-COVID-19, with 25 states recording over 7% growth in their Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) during FY22 and FY23, as per the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) report. Among them, 17 states, including Gujarat, Kerala, Telangana, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Bihar, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Odisha, achieved an impressive 9% growth rate. The report underscores the sectoral strengths contributing to India's economic growth, highlighting Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh as leaders in agricultural production. Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Odisha have leveraged their industrial and mineral wealth, while Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Karnataka excel in industrial and technological advancements. Tourism-centric states like Kerala, Rajasthan, and Goa boost foreign exchange earnings. Infrastructure development in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, along with renewable energy initiatives in Rajasthan and Gujarat, align with sustainable development goals. Improved connectivity in Northeastern states has transformed them into trade and tourism hubs. Human development achievements in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, coupled with initiatives like Gujarat's Vibrant Gujarat Summit and Telangana's IT corridor, have attracted foreign investments, amplifying India's global outreach. Professor Projit Bihari Mukharji of Ashoka University, Sonipat, Haryana has received the 2024 Pfizer Award for his book "Brown Skins, White Coats: Race Science in India, 1920-66" published in 2023 by University of Chicago Press.
- The award, presented by the History of Science Society (HSS), recognizes his significant work exploring the intersection of race, science, colonialism, and nationalism in India.
- Professor Projit Bihari Mukharji's book sheds light on the entanglement of scientific practices with racial ideologies during the colonial era.

India triumphs over China in the final to win Women's Asian Champions Trophy 2024.
The Indian women's hockey team won the Women's Asian Champions Trophy (ACT) 2024 by defeating the People's Republic of China (PRC) 1-0 in the final held at the Rajgir Hockey Stadium in Bihar. This marks India's 3rd Women's ACT title.
- The 8th edition of Women's Asian Champions Trophy (2024) was held from 11th to 20th November 2024 in Bihar.
- China secured the 2nd spot while Japan beat Malaysia 4-1 to finish 3rd in the Women's ACT 2024.

IAS Officer Vipin Kumar takes over as Chairman of the Airports Authority of India (AAI).
On 28th October 2024, Vipin Kumar, an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the 1996 batch from the Bihar cadre, took over as the Chairman of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) under the Ministry of Civil Aviation (MOCA).
- He succeeded M. Suresh, who has been serving as the interim chairman after Sanjeev Kumar, the former chairman, was appointed as the Defence Secretary in the Ministry of Defence (MoD) in August 2024.

(i) Prior to the appointment, he served as Additional Secretary in the Department of School Education & Literacy (DSEL), Ministry of Education (MOE), Government of India (Gol).

Renowned Folk Singer and Padma Bhushan Awardee Sharda Sinha Passes Away at Age 72.
Renowned folk singer Sharda Sinha, popularly known as 'Bihar Kokila' (Nightingale of Bihar), passed away at the age of 72 due to complications of blood cancer in New Delhi, Delhi. She was born on 1st October 1952 in Bihar.
- Sharda Sinha was a Nritya Visharad (Manipuri) and also held a master's degree in Indian classical music-vocal and a Ph.D.
- Sharda Sinha is known for her songs in Bhojpuri, Maithili, Magahi, and Hindi and is famous for her songs during Chhath Puja, a popular festival celebrated in Bihar, Jharkhand, and Uttar Pradesh (UP).
Main Points:-
(i) She was honored with Padma Shri for outstanding contribution to music in 1991 and Padma Bhushan in the Art-Music field in 2018.
(ii) In 2000, she was conferred with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award.
