The Uttar Pradesh government approved the ?500 crore Chief Minister Green Road Infrastructure Development Scheme (Urban), popularly known as 'CM Grid Scheme'. This project has been started in view of the increasing urbanization in the state and its need. According to the state government spokesperson, to reduce the burden of extra vehicles on the roads and facilitate traffic flow. The Urban Development Department has set up the Urban Road Infrastructure Development Agency (URIDA) to implement the scheme on the ground. URIDA will develop and maintain roads in cities as well as develop urban road management systems. He said that apart from improving the financial condition of urban local bodies and adopting new technologies in road infrastructure, the focus would also be on resource generation.
