State-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is set to award a multi-year purchase order worth Rs 1,000 crore to Finland's Nokia for supply of Optical Transport Network (OTN) equipment and deployment through a local system integrator. The contract To supply, install and commission OTN under Phase-4 project on turnkey basis for BSNL at pan-India level with three years operation and maintenance services and comprehensive annual maintenance contract (AMC) for eight years. For the contract, Bengaluru-based UTL has teamed up with state-owned Center for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), which has developed the core or brain of the telecom network. The tender terms include supply of network elements "after approval as a trusted product" from the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS). UTL has procured the network elements through its subsidiary Priyaraja Electronics, which is an MSME (Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise). participated in the bidding process offering their locally developed and manufactured products. ​
