Annual Joint HADR Exercise Cyclone conducted by Indian Navy from 09 to 11 October 2023 at Goa

The annual Joint HADR Exercise 2023 AJHE2023 conducted by the Indian Navy from 09 to 11 October 2023 off Goa concluded with a multi-agency capability display at the mole berth within the Port of Mormugao to demonstrate exercises on cyclone, rescue and relief. Teams from NDRF, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Indian Coast Guard and State Fire Service, Goa participated in the demonstration. Representatives of the eight FFCs. AJHE2023 began on 09 October 2023 with a seminar to discuss synergy in response to climate change and related disaster adaptation and mitigation. On 10 October 2023, a table-top exchange with representatives of all participating agencies and eight FFCs was organized at INS Hansa as the main event of AJHE2023. Earlier the scenario of the cyclone hitting Goa was discussed, which would result in floods and large-scale destruction of infrastructure up to 100 km inside the coast. An Industrial Showcase was also organized by FICCI in coordination with the Indian Navy on 10 October 2023. The discussions among the participants over the three days of the exercise led to a better understanding of the capabilities of each organization and better coordination among various agencies during a HADR scenario.
