World Children's Day is celebrated every year on 20 November to commemorate the Declaration of the Rights of the Child by the United Nations General Assembly on this day in 1959. It was first established as Universal Children's Day in 1954. Since 1990, World Children's Day has been celebrated. It also marks the anniversary of the date when the United Nations General Assembly adopted both the Declaration and the Convention on the Rights of the Child.
