Dr Jamshed J Irani, also known as the 'Steel Man of India', passed away at the age of 86 in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. Jamshed J Irani, KBE was an Indian industrialist. He joined Tata Steel from which he retired in 2007 as the Director. Later he served on the boards of various Tata group companies and others. He received the Padma Bhushan in 2007. He had contributed to the Indian industry, steel business and the Tatas for over four decades. He began his career in 1963 as a senior scientific officer at the British Iron and Steel Research Association, Sheffield.
