Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL) and Safran Aircraft Engines of France signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on October 27, 2023 to develop industrial collaboration in 'ring forging' for commercial engines in aerospace. Forged rings, a manufacturing process for shaping metal, are used in a wide range of industries including aerospace and in applications requiring strength and durability.HAL produces Airbus A320neo family and Boeing 737 Max engines at its facility in Bengaluru Will produce Leading Edge Aviation Propulsion (LEAP) to power the aircraft. The number of engines to be co-produced will be around 100. Safran is a long-term partner of HAL, and has been part of the joint development of Shakti helicopter engines. HAL is also going to co-design and co-produce the next generation Indian Multi Role Helicopter (IMRH) engine with Safran.
