MOUs and Agreement
The Coal Ministry has joined hands with the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) to work together to promote green energy. During the Joint Secretary level meeting between the two ministries, it was decided that MNRE will provide capacity building support and the Coal Ministry will provide land, capital and implement solar power, green hydrogen and other renewable energy projects. βIn the high-level meeting, it was decided that coal companies will provide surplus land for de-coaling. Coal CPSEs also have de-coal land in opencast mines where naturally occurring water storage reserves are available and the average elevation is 100 metres. By creation of major reservoirs, such de-coal mines can be converted into pumped storage projects. It was decided to work expeditiously to set up such projects,β the Coal Ministry said.
