iDEX-DIO signs 300th contract for defense innovation in the specific area of design and development of advanced Gallium Nitride Semiconductors

Innovation for Defense Excellence (iDEX), the flagship initiative of the Department of Defense Production, has reached a milestone with the signing of its 300th contract. This contract relates to the design and development of advanced gallium nitride semiconductors required for next generation wireless transmitters in defense applications ranging from radar to EW (Electronics Warfare) jammers. The objective of the proposal is to design, develop and manufacture GaN components for defense in India using completely indigenous GaN technology. This will significantly increase indigenous design and development capacity, thereby paving the way for immense potential in the defense sector including exports. Additional Secretary (Defence Industry Production) and CEO/DIO T Natarajan met Defense Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane and officials of the Ministry. In another development, continuing with the 'Make in India' initiative and commitment to make iDEX 'for the innovators to buy', BEL has collaborated with M/s Blurz Innovations Pvt Ltd for its solution TRIDENT, an Intelligent Procurement Contract.
