Insurance Ombudsman resolved more than 92 percent of the complaints received from insured during 2022-23. During the year, 55,946 complaints were received in its offices across the country, of which 51,625 were resolved. According to a release issued by the Delhi office of the Insurance Ombudsman, the Delhi center disposed of all 5,257 complaints received during the year. The Delhi Center also organized camps in Gurugram and Faridabad during the year, in which Insurance Ombudsman Sunita Sharma heard local complaints. There is also a system for filing and hearing these complaints online. The Office of the Insurance Ombudsman is an alternative grievance redressal forum. Its objective is to resolve the complaints of aggrieved policyholders against insurance companies and their intermediaries or insurance brokers in a quick and cost-effective manner. The offices of the Insurance Ombudsman are under the administrative control of the Council of Insurance Ombudsman (CIO). Insurance Ombudsman Day is celebrated every year on 11th November to mark the foundation day of the establishment.
