Indian and Bangladesh Navies conduct 5th coordinated patrol in Northern Bay of Bengal and Bongosagar 23

The 4th edition of the bilateral exercise, Bongosagar-23, between the Indian Navy and Bangladesh Navy and the 5th edition of the Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT) by both the navies was conducted in the North Bay of Bengal. Both navies conducted joint patrols along the International Maritime Boundary Line (IMBL), and subsequently conducted maritime exercises to enhance interoperability. Indian Naval ships Kuthar, Kiltan and maritime patrol aircraft (MPA) Dornier carried out operations with Bangladesh Navy ships Abu Bakr, Participated in exercises with Abu Ubaidah and MPA. The ships conducted communications exercises, surface gun-shoots, tactical maneuvers and other exercises that ended with steam past. CORPAT-23 also included the first Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) exercise conducted between the two navies, in which search and rescue scenarios were practiced at sea. Regular bilateral exercises and coordinated patrols have strengthened mutual understanding and cooperation between the two navies. ​
