The Technical Institute for Interdisciplinary Sciences and Technology (THAL) of Kerala has signed a Certificate of Agreement (DIU) with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to enhance indigenization in India's aerospace and defense sector.

Kerala-based CSIR-National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (CSIR-NIIST) signed an MoU with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Bengaluru, in the country's aerospace and defense sectors, NIIST said. It will collaborate with HAL to strengthen the indigenization and import substitution program for the country's aerospace and defense sectors, as envisioned by the Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The MoU will enable CSIR-NIIST to collaborate in design and welding of aerospace components and facilitate collaboration on human resource utilization, facility utilization, technology support services, consultancy services and collaborative research work in the field of light alloys for development.
