Important Days
Women Entrepreneurship Day is celebrated every year on 19 November to recognize the achievement of women entrepreneurs and support the efforts of women to build their business ventures. This global initiative, founded by the Women's Entrepreneurship Development Organization (WEDO), has already been adopted by more than 144 countries around the world. The day was started to highlight various issues faced by women entrepreneurs such as lack of education, cultural influence, limited access to capital and lack of guidance etc. The day also aims to help women start their own business ventures by overcoming gender bias. Women's Entrepreneurship Day was established by the Women's Entrepreneurship Development Organization (WEDO), a non-governmental organization that aims to reduce global poverty. The first Women's Entrepreneurship Day was celebrated in New York City in 2014 and was supported by most of the UN member states. Women Entrepreneurship Day was also marked by the presentation of the Pioneer Award instituted by WEDO.
