Important Days

World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims (WDOR) is an official United Nations day observed every year on the third Sunday of November to commemorate the millions of people killed or injured in traffic accidents. It is a day of solidarity for families, friends and loved ones who have been affected by traffic accidents, and it is an opportunity to advocate for safer roads and the rights of road victims around the world. It is also a day to thank traffic-accident emergency services and first responders, reflecting the enormous burden that accidents and resulting injuries and deaths place on economies, health care systems, and most importantly, people worldwide. World Remembrance Day is observed and promoted around the world by many governments, international agencies and groups such as the European Federation of Road Traffic Victims (FEVR), the International Road Victims Partnership (IRVP) and the Global Alliance of NGOs.
