Madagascar's outgoing President Andry Rajoelina has won a third term after a disputed election was boycotted by the opposition and his supporters. He won 59% of the vote, defeating his two nearest rivals, former President Marc Ravalomanana and Siteni Randriana Soloniako. The Constitutional Court rejected Mr Rajoelina's appeal to cancel his candidacy. He also rejected the allegations and called it a political strategy. Despite their withdrawal, the candidates' names remained on the ballot. Mr Randrianosaloniako received 14% of the vote and Mr Ravalomanana 12%. There were six weeks of demonstrations and clashes with police before the election, leading to a curfew in Antananarivo on the eve of voting.
