Tennis star Serena Williams has been named a Fashion Icon by the Council of Fashion Designers of America. The organization honored Williams at a ceremony in New York. Williams is the first athlete to win this award. Previous recipients include artists such as Beyoncé, Zendaya and Rihanna. Williams has been a student of fashion and attended fashion school during her Grand Slam career – and in 2018, launched her S by Serena clothing line.
