MOUs and Agreement

The Defense Ministry signed a Rs 2,956 crore agreement with state-run Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited for the procurement of 16 advanced Super Rapid Gun Mounts (SRGM) and accessories for the Indian Navy. The SRGM is a medium caliber anti-missile and anti-aircraft defense weapon system that provides sustained rate of fire and high accuracy. The ministry said the advanced SRGM will be installed on serving and newly built ships of the Indian Navy. The ministry said, "The weapon system is capable of multiple tasks in multi-threat scenarios and has a proven record of very good performance against missiles and highly maneuverable fast attack craft. The project will employ two and a half lakh man days over a period of five of the year and to encourage active participation of various Indian industries, including MSMEs, thus significantly contributing to the Government's efforts to achieve 'self-reliance' in defence."
