Bangladeshi British climate scientist Salimul Haq died on 28 October 2023 in Dhaka at the age of 71.

Samimul Haq, a leading climate scientist from Bangladesh who inspired the world to understand, pay for and adapt to the impacts of rising temperatures on poor countries, died of heart failure on Saturday. He was 71 years old. Haq's friend, climate and health scientist Christie Eby of the University of Washington, said, "Saleem always focused on the poor and the marginalized, maintaining that climate change was about people, their lives, health and livelihoods. Haq, who died in Dhaka, directed and helped establish the International Center for Climate Change and Development there. He was also a senior associate and program founder at the International Institute for Environment and Development in London and has taught at universities in England and Bangladesh. He taught in.
