National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) announced the appointment of acclaimed Bollywood actor Pankaj Tripathi as its 'UPI Security Ambassador' to strengthen security awareness on digital payments platforms. NPCI's move comes after the ongoing discussion regarding the security of digital payment platforms, especially the United Payments Interface (UPI). Tripathi also highlighted the importance of security while using these platforms. He suggested users not to be afraid as digital payments are safe, but ensure they use the right app for the right person, and follow the instructions given in the UPI Security Shield. The digital payments ecosystem in India has also grown significantly in recent years, driven by a combination of government initiatives, increased internet and smartphone usage, and the rise of e-commerce. The digital payments ecosystem is supported by private players who provide a range of digital payment services.
