National Education Day is celebrated every year on 11 November in India in honor of the birthday of Maulana Abul Kalam. The Ministry of Human Resource Development announced the celebration of this day to reflect the achievements of Azad as the first Education Minister of India. His original name was Abul Kalam Ghulam Muhiuddin, also known as Maulana Abul Kalam Azad or Maulana Azad. He was born on 11 November 1888 in Mecca, now in Saudi Arabia, and died on 22 February 1958 in New Delhi. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad's contribution in the field of education, nation-building and institution-building is exemplary. He is the chief architect of education in India. He was also the first Vice President of India and the first Education Minister of independent India from 1947 to 1958. The theme of 2023 National Education Day is "Embracing Innovation", which highlights the importance of using cutting-edge and creative teaching strategies. Since 2008, National Education Day is celebrated every year in India without declaring it a holiday.
