India and Nepal Sign Pact for 10,000 MW Power Export over 10 Years.

During External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar's visit to Kathmandu, India and Nepal signed a long-term agreement for the export of 10,000 MW of hydroelectricity from Nepal to India over the next 10 years. The agreement was signed by the Energy Secretaries of both nations during the 7th India-Nepal Joint Commission meeting.

  • India also announced a financial package of NPR 1,000 crore for renewable energy infrastructure in Nepal.
  • The two sides inaugurated three cross-border transmission lines to facilitate power trade.
