The NISAR (NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar) satellite, a joint earth observation mission between the space agencies of India and the United States, has become fully operational. Launched earlier this year, the satellite will map the Earth every 12 days, providing high-resolution data for disaster management, climate change monitoring, and studying changes in the Earth's crust, ice sheets, and ecosystems. NISAR utilizes two frequency bands (L-band and S-band) of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) to provide high-resolution images irrespective of weather conditions.
