Mithun Manas Elected as 37th President of BCCI at 94th AGM in Mumbai.

On September 28, 2025, Mithun Manas, former Delhi cricket captain, was elected as the 37th President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) during its 94th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He succeeded Roger Binny, former India all-rounder.


      - Mithun Manas played 157 First-Class, 130 List A, and 91 T20 matches in domestic cricket between 1997-98 and 2016-17. He led Delhi to a Ranji Trophy title in the 2007-08 season, establishing himself as a prominent figure in Indian domestic cricket.

      - Post-retirement, Manas contributed as an assistant coach for multiple Indian Premier League (IPL) teams including Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, and Gujarat Titans. He also served as Director of Cricket for the Jammu and Kashmir Cricket Association.

     

Main Point :-   (i) Mithun Manas became the third successive former cricketer to assume the BCCI presidency, following Sourav Ganguly and Roger Binny, continuing the trend of ex-players leading Indian cricket administration.

      (ii) The AGM confirmed the continuation and election of office bearers. Rajeev Shukla remains Vice-President, Devajit Saikia retained the post of Secretary, Prabhatej Singh Bhatia was named Joint Secretary, and A. Raghuram Bhat became Treasurer. Jaydev Shah was elected to the BCCI Apex Council.

(iii) The meeting finalized several committee appointments. Jayesh George was elected Chairman of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) Committee, Amita Sharma was appointed Chief Selector of the Women’s Selection Committee, while Pragyan Ojha and RP Singh joined the Men’s Selection Committee. S. Sharath was named Chairman of the Junior Men’s Selection Committee.
