National

In September 2025, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL)’s fully indigenous 4G network on the occasion of its Silver Jubilee celebrations in Jharsuguda, Odisha. With this launch, India joined the league of nations like Denmark, Sweden, South Korea, and China that have developed homegrown telecom technology.

      - BSNL’s 4G stack is a collaboration of Indian technology leaders—Radio Access Network (RAN) by Tejas Network, Core-network by the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DoT) under the Ministry of Communications, and system integration by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). BSNL is tasked with deploying this indigenous 4G network nationwide.

      - The design of the network is fully software-driven with cloud-based architecture, ensuring smooth scalability to 5G and aligning with the Bharat 6G Vision 2030. This innovation makes India self-reliant in telecom technology while preparing for future global competitiveness.

Main Point :-   (i) During the event, the Prime Minister commissioned over 97,500 indigenous 4G mobile towers built at a cost of ₹37,000 crore, including 92,600 sites dedicated to BSNL.

(ii) He also launched India’s 100% 4G saturation project, connecting 29,000 to 30,000 remote villages under a mission-mode initiative, ensuring digital inclusion across the nation.
