L&T Partners with BEL for India’s 5th Generation Fighter Jet Programme

In September 2025, Larsen & Toubro (L&T) signed a strategic partnership with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to support the development of the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), India’s fifth-generation stealth fighter jet for the Indian Air Force (IAF).
- The AMCA programme, led by the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), focuses on developing a twin-engine, stealth multirole fighter aircraft for IAF.
- The collaboration will combine L&T’s defence and aerospace manufacturing capabilities with BEL’s electronics and avionics expertise, enhancing AMCA development and production.
Main Point :- (i) The prototype of the AMCA is expected by 2028–29, with service induction targeted for 2034 and series production by 2035.
(ii) The initiative aligns with the Atmanirbhar Bharat vision, boosting indigenous defence manufacturing and promoting self-reliance in critical defence technologies.
