Ministry of Information and Broadcasting Expands WaveX with Seven New Incubation Centres.

In September 2025, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) recently expanded its startup accelerator WaveX under the WAVES (World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit) initiative, launching seven new incubation centres across India to support startups in the AVGC (Animation, Visual Effects, Gaming, Comics) and XR (Extended Reality) sectors.


      - The seven centres will be established at the Indian Institute of Mass Communication (IIMC) โ€“ Delhi, Jammu (Jammu & Kashmir, J&K), Dhenkanal (Odisha), Kottayam (Kerala), Amravati (Maharashtra), Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), Pune (Maharashtra), and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkata (West Bengal, WB).

      - Startups will access advanced production, post-production, game development, editing, and testing infrastructure shared across partner incubators like Indian Institute of Cartoonists and Technologists (IICT), FTII, and SRFTI.

      - Facilities include an 8K Red Raptor Vista Vision camera, 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) preview theatre with Dolby Atmos, virtual production stages with LED walls, and high-performance workstations.

Main Point :-   (i) Startups will have co-working spaces, high-speed internet, cloud credits from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Google Cloud, and access to the IndiaAl Compute Portal.

      (ii) Structured mentorship, masterclasses, investor connect sessions, and international exposure opportunities at events like VivaTech (Paris, France) and Game Developers Conference (United States of America, USA) will support startup growth.

(iii) Fifteen startups per centre will be selected for the first batch. Eligible startups in the Media-Entertainment and AVGC-XR sectors pay a monthly fee of Rs. 8,500 plus Goods and Services Tax (GST). Applications are open on wavesbazaar.com.
