IRDAI Unveils “Bima Sugam”- A Unified Digital Marketplace for Insurance.

The Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI) has launched “Bima Sugam,” a unified digital marketplace to simplify access to insurance products and services, aiming to boost transparency and policyholder convenience.

      - Bima Sugam will allow customers to compare, buy, renew, port, and file claims for life, health, and general insurance policies on a single digital platform.

Main Point :-   (i) The platform is being developed by the Bima Sugam India Federation (BSIF) with Protean eGov Technologies Ltd as the technology partner, ensuring secure and scalable integration.

      (ii) Initially launched as an information portal, the full-scale rollout with complete transactional services is expected by December 2025 under IRDAI’s phased implementation plan.

(iii) Bima Sugam forms part of IRDAI’s “Bima Trinity” (with Bima Vistaar and Bima Vahak) and supports the vision of “Insurance for All by 2047” under Viksit Bharat 2047.
