Mauritius PM Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam Undertakes 8-Day Official Visit to India and India Announces USD 680 Million Special Economic Package.

From 9th to 16th September 2025, Prime Minister (PM) of Mauritius, Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam, visited India at the invitation of PM Narendra Modi. This marked his first overseas bilateral visit to India in his current term, aimed at strengthening the India-Mauritius Enhanced Strategic Partnership across economic, cultural, and strategic sectors.


      - During his visit, PM Ramgoolam met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. The meeting reinforced diplomatic relations and discussed avenues for enhanced cooperation between India and Mauritius in key areas such as trade, maritime security, and sustainable development.

      - PM Ramgoolam held high-level bilateral talks with PM Narendra Modi in Varanasi, focusing on strategic partnership, economic cooperation, and cultural ties. The discussions culminated in India announcing a Special Economic Package worth USD 680 million for Mauritius.

      - On 10th September 2025, he arrived in Mumbai, Maharashtra, to attend the India-Mauritius Business Conclave organized by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI). PM Ramgoolam announced the establishment of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) for Indian companies in Mauritius to boost bilateral trade and investment.

Main Point :-   (i) On 10th September 2025, PM Ramgoolam, along with his wife Veena Ramgoolam and delegation of ministers and business leaders, visited Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. He offered prayers at the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and participated in cultural events, highlighting shared historical and spiritual links.

      (ii) On 12th September 2025, he visited Ayodhya, UP, and offered prayers at the Shree Ramjanambhumi Temple with his wife. This visit underscored the spiritual and cultural connections between India and Mauritius and strengthened people-to-people ties.

(iii) On 15th September 2025, PM Ramgoolam visited Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, as part of his official tour. The visit emphasized the long-standing cultural and religious links between the two countries, reflecting mutual respect and the importance of spiritual diplomacy in India-Mauritius relations.
