Air India and Air Astana Sign Codeshare Agreement to Boost India-Central Asia Connectivity.

On September 10, 2025, Air India and Kazakhstan’s national carrier Air Astana signed a codeshare agreement. Air India’s ‘AI’ code will now appear on Air Astana flights including Almaty–New Delhi and Almaty–Mumbai routes.
- The codeshare agreement applies to Almaty–New Delhi and Almaty–Mumbai flights operated by Air Astana.
- Passengers can book a single ticket and enjoy baggage through check-in across Air India and Air Astana flights.
- The agreement allows easier connections to Central Asian cities such as Astana, Bishkek, Tashkent, and Dushanbe.
Main Point :- (i) Established in 1932, Air India operates flights to around 92 destinations worldwide.
(ii) Founded in 2001, Air Astana is Kazakhstan’s national airline operating both domestic and international flights.
(iii) The partnership strengthens India’s connectivity with Central Asia and supports travel, trade, and diplomatic ties.
