Telangana Government Signs LoI with Australia’s Deakin University to Establish AI Centre of Excellence.

In September 2025, the Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (ITE&C), Government of Telangana, signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Australia’s Deakin University in Hyderabad to promote Artificial Intelligence (AI)-driven innovative solutions supporting governance, digital economy, and public good.
- The LoI was signed by Bhavesh Mishra, Deputy Secretary, ITE&C Telangana, and Iain Martin, Vice-Chancellor (VC), Deakin University.
- As part of the agreement, Deakin University will set up an AI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Telangana, serving as a hub for innovation, research, and application of AI solutions.
Main Point :- (i) The Centre, in collaboration with Young Indian Skill University, will deliver market-focused AI courses, global-standard training programmes, and mentorship opportunities for startups, guided by Australian experts.
(ii) The initiative will harness Deakin University’s Applied AI expertise to integrate advanced AI solutions across healthcare, governance, education, and entrepreneurship, accelerating Telangana’s role as a leading AI-driven economy in India.
(iii) This collaboration positions Telangana as a pioneer in international academia-industry partnerships, aligning skill development with emerging AI technologies for youth empowerment and state growth.
