Meghalaya Government Signs MoU with Japan’s Asean One to Boost Global Career Opportunities for Youth.

In September 2025, the Meghalaya State Skill Development Society (MSSDS), under the Government of Meghalaya, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Japan’s Asean One Co. Limited at the Indian Embassy in Tokyo, Japan, to enhance international employment opportunities for Meghalaya’s youth.
- The MoU sets an initial target of training and placing 500 candidates in the first year, with a long-term goal of scaling placements up to 5,000 youth over the next five years.
- The collaboration aims to create employment pathways across multiple high-demand sectors including healthcare, hospitality, information technology (IT), and other industries, aligning Meghalaya’s talent with global job markets.
Main Point :- (i) As part of the initiative, selected candidates will undergo Japanese language training and cultural orientation programmes, ensuring better adaptability and long-term integration into Japan’s workforce.
(ii) The strategic agreement reflects Meghalaya’s focus on skill development, overseas employment, and leveraging global partnerships, positioning the state as a hub for international skill mobility.
(iii) This partnership strengthens India–Japan bilateral relations while contributing to Meghalaya’s youth empowerment by linking local skills to global opportunities.
