Anutin Charnvirakul Elected as 32nd Prime Minister of Thailand.

In September 2025, Anutin Charnvirakul, leader of Thailand’s Bhumjaithai Party, was elected as the 32nd Prime Minister of Thailand, securing 311 votes in the 493-seat parliament and succeeding Paetongtarn Shinawatra of the Pheu Thai Party.
- Anutin Charnvirakul assumed office following royal endorsement by King Maha Vajiralongkorn (King Rama X) at a ceremony in Bangkok, officially becoming Thailand’s Prime Minister.
- He secured 311 votes, surpassing the 247-vote majority required in the 492-member House of Representatives. His main rival, Chaikasem Nitisiri of the Pheu Thai Party, received 152 votes, while 27 members abstained.
Main Point :- (i) Anutin began his political journey in 2000 as an advisor to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, first elected to the House of Representatives in 2005, and has held key positions including Health Minister (July 2019–Sept 2023) and Deputy PM (July 2019–June 2025).
(ii) He became leader of the Bhumjaithai Party in 2014, succeeding his father, Chavarat Charnvirakul, and has been instrumental in shaping the party’s policies, particularly in rural development and cannabis law reforms.
(iii) Anutin is a practical politician from Thailand’s rural northeast. He manages his family’s construction business, Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction (STECO), before entering politics, and is recognized for his hands-on approach to regional development.
