India’s defence and heavy engineering PSU BEML Limited, operating under the Ministry of Defence and classified as a Schedule 'A' enterprise, has signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL). The agreement was formally exchanged at BEML’s Delhi office, marking a pivotal step in advancing India’s maritime industrial ecosystem

  • - The MoU sets in motion a strategic collaboration focused on the co-development of advanced marine systems, including indigenous design, innovation, precision manufacturing, and comprehensive lifecycle support. The partnership targets elevating India’s shipyard infrastructure and logistics to global standards, supporting both defence and commercial maritime operations.
  • - BEML will lead the design and engineering of specialized systems, leveraging its expertise in platform engineering and structural optimization developed over decades in mobility platforms, rail and metro systems, missile components, and mining equipment. HSL, India's premier shipbuilding PSU, will accelerate localization efforts by integrating its shipbuilding experience with BEML’s robust manufacturing capabilities.
