In July 2025, the Government of Andhra Pradesh (AP) launched the Smart Mosquito Surveillance System (SMoSS), becoming the first Indian state to adopt an AI-integrated surveillance and control network to tackle mosquito-borne diseases like dengue, malaria, and chikungunya. The project uses a combination of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT) tools to provide real-time data for proactive mosquito control.
