India Initiates 'Operation Brahma' to Provide Relief to Earthquake-Stricken Myanmar.

In response to the catastrophic 7.7 magnitude earthquake that struck Myanmar on March 28, India launched Operation Brahma to provide immediate humanitarian assistance. Within 24 hours, the Indian Air Force (IAF) deployed its first relief flight, a C-130J aircraft, to Yangon, Myanmar.

  • - The flight carried 15 metric tons of essential supplies, including medical equipment, shelter materials, and ready-to-eat food, to aid those impacted by the disaster.
  • - Additionally, India dispatched two naval ships, INS Satpura and INS Savitri, which are carrying 40 tonnes of humanitarian aid to Yangon.

  • (i) Additionally, on March 30, 2025, INS Karmuk and LCU 52 from the Andaman and Nicobar Command set sail with 52 tonnes of relief material, including food, water, clothing, medicines, and emergency supplies.
  • (ii) The Indian Navy remains committed to its role as the region's First Responder in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) efforts.
  • (iii) The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spearheaded the mission, reinforcing India's "neighbourhood first" policy and its dedication to promptly assisting neighbouring countries.
