On March 21, 2025, Union Minister of State (MoS) (Independent Charge, IC) Dr. Jitendra Singh, Ministry of Science & Technology (MoS&T), launched the 'India Bioeconomy Report 2025 (IBER 2025)' during the 13th anniversary celebrations of the Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) at the National Media Centre in New Delhi, Delhi.

  • - While addressing the event, Union MoS Dr. Jitendra Singh highlighted that India's bioeconomy has witnessed a 16-times increase over the past decade, growing from USD 10 billion in 2014 to USD 165 billion in 2024.

  • (i) Dr. Jitendra Singh launched BioSaarthi, a pioneering international mentorship initiative aimed at nurturing biotech startups for a period of 6 months.
  • (ii) According to the India Bioeconomy Report 2025, the bioeconomy sector contributes 4.25% to India's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). The BioIndustrial segment accounts for nearly half of the bioeconomy, contributing 47.2%, while biopharma follows with a contribution of 35.2%.
