In March 2025, Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), inaugurated the 'Shri S. Ramakrishnan Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Fluid and Thermal Science Research' at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M), Chennai, Tamil Nadu.

  • The centre is named after S. Ramakrishnan, the former Director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC) and Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC), Thiruvananthapuram, who made significant contributions to launch vehicle engineering.
