In February 2025, Madan Dilawar, the Education and Panchayati Raj Minister of Rajasthan, launched the 'Shiksha Sanjeevani Bima Yojana (SSBY)' during a special event held at Residency Girls Higher Secondary School in Udaipur, Rajasthan.

  • - This is the first-of-its-kind scheme that aims to provide personal accident insurance coverage ranging from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.30 lakh to students in government schools.
  • - Initially, the scheme will cover schools in the Udaipur Division of Rajasthan.
  • - The scheme offers insurance coverage in case of accidental death or injury to students. It also provides insurance coverage in case of accidental death of a student's parent.

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • (i) Wonder Cement, Zurich Kotak General Insurance, and State Bank of India (SBI) are partners in the Shiksha Sanjeevani Bima Yojana.
  • (ii) The state government plans to eventually expand the scheme, with the goal of benefiting approximately 1 crore school children across the state.
