Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Launches Nationwide Campaign "Watershed Yatra.

In February 2025, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD), launched the nationwide campaign "Watershed Yatra" to promote public participation and raise awareness about watershed development initiatives under the Watershed Development Component of Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (WDC-PMKSY 2.0).

🎯 Key Highlights:

  • - During the launch event, the Union Minister also introduced the 'Watershed-Janbhagidari Pratiyogita' under WDC-PMKSY 2.0 for the years 2025 and 2026.

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • (i) The campaign will feature van movements spanning approximately 60 to 90 days, covering 805 projects across 6,673 Gram Panchayats (GPs), including 13,587 villages in 26 states and 2 Union Territories (UTs).
  • (ii) As part of the "Watershed ki Panchayat" initiative, experts from various fields will discuss sustainable soil and water management practices, and around 8,000 individuals who have significantly contributed to WDC-PMKSY project implementation will be honored.
