Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, CM of HP, announced that Durgesh Aranya Zoological Park, located in the Bankhandi area of Kangra's Dehra constituency in HP, will be the 1st zoo in India to receive certification from the Indian Green Building Council (IGBC).

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • (i) The zoo's development is progressing in phases. The 1st phase, covering 25 ha, has a projected cost of Rs 230 cr and is set for completion by Q3 2025.
  • (ii) The entire park, with a budget of Rs 619 cr, will boost tourism in Kangra and neighboring areas, creating an eco-friendly attraction.
  • (iii) The CZA has approved 34 enclosures at Durgesh Aranya Zoo to house 73 species, including Asiatic lions, hog deer, crocodiles, gharials, monitor lizards, and native birds.
