Andhra Pradesh Government Unveils 'Deepam 2.0' Scheme as Diwali Gift for Women.

Andhra Pradesh (AP) Chief Minister (CM) Chandrababu Naidu launched the 'Deepam 2.0' scheme as a Diwali gift in Edupuram, AP. The initiative will provide 3 free Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders per year to eligible women starting from 31st October 2024.

🎯 Key Highlights:

  • - The Deepam (light) scheme is part of the "super six" poll promises made by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) ahead of the 2024 elections.
  • - The AP government will provide 3 gas cylinders free of cost to eligible beneficiaries at the rate of one every four months.

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • (i) The 1st cylinder can be applied for before 31st March 2025, the 2nd cylinder can be booked from 1st April to 31st July 2025, and the 3rd cylinder from 1st August to 30th November 2025.
  • (ii) The 'Deepam' scheme will cost the state government Rs 2,684 crore annually, totaling Rs 13,423 crore over the next 5 years.
