Indian Coast Guard (ICG) Unveils Two Fast Patrol Vessels, 'Adamya' and 'Akshar', Manufactured by GSL.

On 28th October 2024, the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) launched two domestically built Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs), 'Adamya' and 'Akshar', constructed by Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL).

🎯 Key Highlights:

  • - The vessels, which feature over 60% indigenous content, were launched by Priya Paramesh, wife of Paramesh Sivamani, Director General of ICG.
  • - The state-of-the-art Fast Patrol Vessels (FPVs) 'Adamya' and 'Akshar' are part of a contract between the Indian Coast Guard (ICG) and Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) for building 8 FPVs at a cost of Rs 473 crore.
  • - Each FPV is 52 meters in length and 8 meters in breadth.

💡 Other Important Facts:

  • (i) These FPVs are designed to enhance security around offshore assets, island territories, and strengthen surveillance capabilities.
  • (ii) On 25th August 2024, Giridhar Aramane, Secretary of the Ministry of Defence (MoD), laid the keels for the FPVs Adamya and Akshar.
