The Government of India (GOI) has signed a Host Country Agreement (HCA) with the Global Biofuels Alliance (GBA) to officially set up the GBA Secretariat in India. This agreement was made during a ceremony in New Delhi.

  • (i) The agreement was signed by Dammu Ravi, Secretary (Economic Relations) from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), and Pankaj Jain, Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MoPNG), who is also the Interim Director General of the GBA.
  • (ii) The HCA provides the GBA with legal recognition, including privileges and immunities under the United Nations (Privileges and Immunities) Act of 1947, ensuring smooth operations within India’s legal system.
