MOSPI has released the "Comprehensive Annual Modular Survey" for July 2022 to June 2023.

The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI) released the "Comprehensive Annual Modular Survey (CAMS): July 2022 - June 2023."


      - This survey was part of the 79th round of the National Sample Survey (NSS) conducted during the same period. Notably, the survey was not carried out in certain villages in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

     

     

Main Points:-   (i) In rural areas, approximately 96.5% of individuals aged 15-24 can read and write simple statements and perform basic arithmetic calculations. In urban areas, this figure rises to about 97.9%.

      (ii) For individuals aged 15-29, the literacy percentages are 95.3% in rural areas and 97.4% in urban areas, resulting in an overall figure of 95.9%. For those aged 15 and above, the literacy rates are 77.3% in rural areas, 90% in urban areas, and an overall average of 81.2%.

(iii) The average number of years of formal education for individuals aged 15 and older in India is 8.4 years. For those aged 25 and older, this average decreases to 7.5 years.
