MoF keeps interest rates on small savings schemes unchanged for Q3 FY25.

The Ministry of Ministry (MoF) on Monday left the interest rates on various small savings schemes including Public Provident Fund (PPF) and National Savings Certificate (NSC) unchanged for the third straight quarter beginning October 1, 2024.


      - In December 2023, the Government of India raised interest rates for certain small savings schemes, including Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and the three-year time deposit, by 20 basis points for Q4 FY24.

     

     

Main Points:-   (i) In December 2023, the Indian government increased the interest rates on some small savings schemes such as Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana and three-year time deposits by 20 basis points for Q4 FY24.

      (ii) The Public Provident Fund (PPF) rate has remained unchanged since April 2020, and its last revision was in April and June 2020, when it was reduced from 7.9% to 7.1%.
