CV Raman Jayanti 2023 is the birthday of Indian physicist CV Raman on November 7, . Famous physicist CV Raman was born on November 7, 1888 in Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu. His full name is Chandrashekhar Venkata Raman. The professor was awarded the Nobel Prize for his research on scattering of light and discovery of the Raman effect. In the year 1904, Raman, who was the son of a school teacher, excelled in his studies faster than anyone else and graduated at the age of 16. He earned a BA degree from Madras University. The physicist created history there too by winning gold medals in the main subjects English and Physics. When the professor published his first scientific paper in a philosophical journal in college, he was only 18 years old. In 1917, Raman was allotted the post of professor at the University of Calcutta. He was elected as a member of the Royal Society in 1924 and was later knighted by the British in 1930. In 1933 he became the first Director of the Indian Institute of Science. In 1948, Raman established the Raman Research Institute. This institute was funded by him and through donations from private sources.
