Important Days

India celebrates National Milk Day every year on 26 November to remember the efforts of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the father of the White Revolution. Dr. Kurien played an important role in the development of the dairy industry. His efforts made India self-reliant in its dairy needs. NDDB and IDA had announced in 2014 that Dr. Kurien's achievements would be celebrated on 26 November from now on. The theme of National Milk Day is flexible and is a part of a broader concept of emphasizing the general importance of milk consumption. Furthermore, the day goes beyond organized events as the nation discusses the importance of milk in our diet, promotes its consumption and also recognizes its role in promoting economic growth and good nutrition. Simply put, National Milk Day is a tribute to a steadfast visionary and the determination and prosperity of the Indian dairy industry.
