United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has removed India from his annual report on the impact of armed conflict on children, citing "measures taken by the government to better protect" them. India had been included in the report since 2010, alongside other countries, including Burkina Faso, Cameroon, the Lake Chad Basin, Nigeria, Pakistan and the Philippines. Initially, India was included on the list due to allegations of the recruitment of young boys by armed groups in Jammu and Kashmir and the detainment of boys by the security forces on grounds of association with armed groups.
