World Snow Leopard Day, also known as International Snow Leopard Day, is observed across the world on 23 October.

Important Days

International Snow Leopard Day Established in 2014, every year on October 23 we celebrate this endangered cat and raise awareness for its conservation and protection. Snow leopards are often found in the mountains of Central Asia and have adapted to the cold and dry climate. The height of the snow leopard is about 55-65 cm and length is 90-115 cm. They have extra large paws that are like a natural pair of snowshoes to keep the cat from sinking in the snow. Despite being quite strong cats, they are incredibly gentle creatures that have not been known to harm humans. Snow leopards cannot roar due to the anatomical structure of their throats. They are often heard growling, hissing or growling in a non-aggressive manner. These cats can kill prey that weighs three times their own weight. They also have strong limbs that can jump up to 30 feet in a single jump. A female snow leopard is typically pregnant for 93–110 days before giving birth to her cubs in June or July.
